Drone Robotics

NovaPeak is involved with the technology integration of high-performance computing, vision systems, sensors, and networking technologies that enhance the autonomy and functionality of drones.

We are distributor of specialised drone components such as power and lighting devices with cutting edge solutions. NovaPeak is well known as an advocate of drone tethering technology and have successfully carried out more than 1,000 missions involving both inspection and surveillance works.

NovePeak’s drone tethering device also performs as an edge computing device where AI is employed on the field to carry out data processing particularly for live detection of targeted anomalies for both building inspection and surveillance purposes. The company also distributes specialised drone systems designed for bridge bearing inspection and spray cleaning of building façades.

Building Inspection & Survey

Building surveying is a multidisciplinary profession that involves the evaluation, inspection, and assessment of buildings to assess their condition.

NovaPeak is recognised as an Industrial Pace Setter for AI & Drone Aided Inspection & Survey activities with specialisation for Building Inspection employing LiDAR, RGB and Thermal analysis.

Façade inspections are conducted at regular intervals to look out for cracks, loose claddings, and other critical defects. These Inspections accompanied by the appropriate preventive measures are vital for ensuring the safety of the building occupants and longevity of the buildings & flats in any estate. However, manual building façade inspections are becoming harder and more dangerous as our building designs get higher and more complex over the years. To combat against rising cost and potential safety risk, NovaPeak deploys drones and artificial intelligence to detect critical façade defects.

NovaPeak is also a promoter of RISE – Robotic-Integrated Smart Inspection of Built Environment as an inspection program for the Construction Quality Assessment System(CONQUAS®). CONQUAS® was introduced in Singapore since 1989 and serves as a national standard for assessing the construction workmanship quality of building projects.

Critical Infrastructure Inspection

Critical infrastructure refers to the fundamental facilities, systems, and networks of our energy systems, transportation, water, communications. NovaPeak has the portfolio expertise to carry out Robotics AI-aided inspection and survey for marine vessels, wind turbines, bridges, tunnels, cranes and various types of pylon structures (power transmission & distribution poles).

Our Engineers can be deployed for both on and offshore around the Asian region. For inspection and survey work utilising our bespoke drone platforms, we have a regional network of Drone Pilots located in Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the U.S.

Professional Engineers

The Professional Engineer (PE) is responsible for the overall building inspection plan and assessment of the inspection findings. Designated as a Competent Person (CP), he is registered Civil or Structural Engineer under the Professional Engineer’s Board. Alternatively, he may also be a registered Architect. The CP is ultimately responsible to access the façade condition and deterioration in a timely manner to sure public safety.

The CP may utilise LiveInspect, a PFI Multi-aided AI-enabled Software platform as a means to standardise the data collection methods and derive a comprehensive PFI reporting format to adhere to Building and Construction Authority (BCA) inspection standards and corresponding guidelines.

In addition, the Technical Manager (TM) will diligently prepare the reports of the results of the inspection of the building façade in such form as the CP may specify. He will work to ensure safety protocols and work procedures are adhered to.

Facade Inspectors

The Façade Inspector (FI) plays a very vital role to support the Competent Person (CP) to carry out in-particular emphasis close-range tactile inspection of the building façade. The FI must be a Registered Technical Officer or any person who prosses the relevant qualifications and experience as recognised by BCA. Defects will be recorded, and any unsafe conditions immediately flag up to CP.

In the case where the inspection, be carried out by rope access, the FI will be required to be certified by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA).

Rope Access Technicians

IRATA International ensures a safe system of work and encourages career progression for rope access technicians. Each technician is required to re-certify every three years to demonstrate they maintain the necessary abilities to work safely.

Technicians may also progress through three levels as time, experience and training allow: each demanding a greater knowledge of the rope access skills necessary at the worksite.

IRATA certified qualifications are recognised globally. They are benchmarked as the highest standard qualification for rope access.

Rope Access Technicians are supervised by CP to carry out the said inspection works using LiveInspect App. The App will provide reference elevation photos or drawings for ease of defects marking with the photos automatically uploaded into its corresponding Appendix Generator.

Water Leakage Investigations

Water leak investigations for building facades are crucial to identify and address issues before they cause significant damage. Common methods and techniques involve visual inspections, thermal imaging, use of moisture meters, spray bar and hose testing and ultrasonic leak detection.

Microwave / Millimeterwave NDT

NovaPeak collaborates with WaveScan by promoting the use of their specialised sensor to investigate for possible water leak or defects within concrete. The technology involves the use of microwave NDT sensors that transmit electromagnetic waves to penetrate through building facades and detect defects such as corroded rebars, corroded or deteriorated external fixtures and damages within the reinforced concrete.

Thermal Scanning

Thermal scanning for building facades is a valuable technique used to assess the thermal performance and detect potential issues in building envelopes. This involves using thermal imaging cameras to capture temperature variations on the building facade. These variations can indicate areas of heat loss, insulation defects, or moisture intrusion.

Infrared thermography is a non-invasive method that can detect hidden issues like ceramic detachments or structural weaknesses without damaging the building. NovaPeak drones are equipped with thermal cameras can efficiently scan large building facades, identifying defects or damage quickly and safely.

Facade Cleaning

Regular facade cleaning not only enhances the building’s aesthetic appeal but also helps in identifying and addressing potential structural issues early on. Pressure washing and chemical cleaning are carried out by experienced rope access technicians. Alternatively, steam cleaning maybe considered as a gentler yet effective method for removing organic growth and pollutants without the use of harsh chemicals.

In addition to the above, NovaPeak also deploys Façade Cleaning drones developed by Spinoff Robotics equipped with cleaning tools to access hard-to-reach areas safely and efficiently.

Architectural Design

NovaPeak deploys drones equipped with cameras and LiDAR can capture high-resolution images and data, which can be used to create detailed 3D models of the building’s exterior. These models, also known as digital twins, help architects and engineers visualize the facade’s current condition and plan renovations more effectively.

Renewing a damaged facade can breathe new life into a building while enhancing its functionality and aesthetics. Adding a new layer of material over the existing façade can improve insulation and weather resistance. For historical buildings, preserving the original façade while integrating modern elements can strike a balance between old and new.

In addition to this, green façades can also be incorporated to help improve air quality, provide natural insolation and enhance a building’s aesthetic appeal. Another popular practise involves the integrating of solar panels into façade can generate renewable energy while providing shading and reducing heat gain.
